Assessment of IIC Protection Measures from Flood Hazards, Beni Suef

Share:
  • Environics was commissioned by Egyptian Steel (IIC Plant in Beni Suef Governorate) to inspect and assess the artificial measures executed to protect the plant from the potential flood hazards in the area, and on the plant’s site, as well as determine its compliance with the engineering conditions and specifications for flood hazards protection measures.
  • Environics carried out a field visit to the plant to inspect the measures implemented to protect it from flood hazards, which differed from those proposed by a previous study for the same site prepared by the Water Resources Research Institute for Environics, and the specifications of the following executed artificial measures were provided:
    • Flood Barrier
    • Irish Passage/Crossing
    • Transfer Station Protection Measures.
  • In addition, the existing Infrastructure facilities and protection measures have been inspected to be taken into consideration in the assessment.
  • Based on the field visit’s observations, finding results, and technical studies, especially the hydrological studies and analyses at 100 years return period for valleys affecting the infrastructure within IIC, Environics has made the recommendations.
