The Environmental Compliance Office (ECO) of the Federation of Egyptian Industries (FEI), one of the main Egyptian counterparts of the DANIDA-funded Environmental Sector Programme (ESP), was responsible for facilitating and supporting the application and implementation of the programme’s activities.
Within this scope of work, ECO assigned Environics to prepare a preliminary study, which was funded by ESP, on the cleaner production opportunities at Electrostar for Industrial Engineering facility at 6th of October Industrial Zone.
Environics carried out a site visit and collected the necessary data to prepare the study, which included:
– Description and considerations of processes, location, layout and utilities; consumption and production patterns; wastes and pollutants; material balance and critical ration,
– Cause and source assessment, analysis and recommendations, and
– Cleaner production measures: Options of developing production technology, environmental management system and industrial wastewater pollution prevention options.
