Dr. Elshishini has over 23 years of experience in the fields of industrial compliance; cleaner production; environmental inspection and self-monitoring; environmental auditing; integrated pollution prevention and control in industry; pollution abatement; technical feasibility studies; alternative industrial technologies; emission release estimation; wastewater treatment; energy efficiency and environmental policy and institutional development.  She is a Former Consultant to the Egyptian Ministry of Environment and has worked as a sustainable development and cleaner production expert, and pollution abatement and compliance auditor, for a number of international organizations and firms, including: IFC/WB, Finnida, and KfW. She has worked as a consultant to the Second Egyptian Pollution Abatement Project (EPAP II), a World Bank funded project aiming at demonstrating the applicability of market-based financial and technical approaches so as to achieve significant pollution abatement in selected hot spot areas in and around Alexandria and Greater Cairo.  She has also worked as Project Manager and Consultant to EPAP I, where she was the main contributor to the industrial environmental inspection and self-monitoring guidelines that were officially adopted by regulators.

Dr. Elshishini’s experience encompasses several environmental assignments in the oil and petrochemical industry, including: technical assistance to achieve pollution prevention and control; audits, feasibility studies and Compliance Action Plans (CAPs); development of inspection manuals; review of pollution abatement projects to be implemented in a number of Egyptian oil refineries to receive financial grants from KfW, and identification of CP projects for the 7 EGPC refineries and performing  a Toxic Release Inventory for fugitive and point source emissions.
