Hydrological and Hydrogeological Assessment for a Wind Farm, East Ras Gharib

  • Within the scope of the environmental and social impact assessment for a wind farm project to the east of Ras Gharib, Environics was also commissioned to carry out a comprehensive hydrological and hydrogeological study, which entailed flash flood hazard and surface water analysis.
  • The study comprised an analysis of the surface water conditions, which included: topography; geomorphology; geology; land use and modeling of flash floods.
  • The study also included an analysis of groundwater hydrology, covering the hydrogeological units; well inventory in Ras Gharib area; groundwater use, levels and flow direction; hydraulic properties of the aquifer systems; groundwater quality, interaction with surface water, vulnerability to possible pollution, and importance in the project area.
