Hydrological and Hydrogeological Assessment for a Wind Farm, West Ras Gharib

Share:
  • Within the scope of the environmental and social impact assessment for a wind farm project to the west of Ras Gharib, Environics was also commissioned to carry out a comprehensive hydrological & hydrogeological study, which entailed flash flood hazard and surface water analysis.
  • The study included analysis of surface water conditions as well as groundwater hydrology.
  • The surface water analysis comprised analyses of topography; geomorphology; geology; land use, & modeling of flash floods.
  • The groundwater hydrology analysis comprised analyses of hydrogeological units; well inventory in the Ras Gharib area; groundwater use, levels and flow direction; hydraulic properties of the aquifer systems, as well as groundwater quality, importance, pollution vulnerability and interaction with surface water.
