Environics conducted a flood risk assessment for the PV Solar Farm Beaat and Norm Waste Facilities in Abu Dhabi, in response to extreme rainfall events. The study analyzed drainage basin topography, hydrology, and stream networks to assess rainfall distribution, surface runoff, and hydraulic characteristics.
The scope of work included:
- Surface water hydrology analysis covering topographical, geological, meteorological, and hydrological factors.
- Evaluation of rainfall data and calculation of flood peak flows and volumes.
- Floodplain analysis using DEM-extracted cross-sections.
- Hydraulic modeling to estimate water levels, depths, and velocities at critical stream locations.
The results provided an understanding of flood hazards and their potential impact on project infrastructure, helping to inform risk mitigation and management measures.
