Environics was commissioned to carry out an Environmental and Social Due Diligence (ESDD) for a company, established in 2021 as an online grocery platform with product offerings that include fruits & vegetables, fresh meals & juice, dairy products, beverages, bakeries, frozen food, groceries, pet products, electronics, textiles, household disposables, stationery, skincare & haircare products and laundry & detergents.
The assessment aimed to determine the company E&S’s compliance with Egyptian national environmental and social regulations, as well as relevant international standards (e.g. Environmental Law 4/1994 amended by Law 9/2009 and Law 105/2015, Labor Law 12/2003, Waste Law 202/2020 and Law 148/2019 amended by Law 25/2020 regarding social insurance); − IFC E&S Performance Standards (PSs 1, 2 & 3); − EBRD Environmental and Social Policy Guidelines and Performance Requirements (PRs 1, 2 & 3)
It also identified E&S compliance gaps along with an Environmental and Social Action Plan (ESAP) with the necessary mitigation measures to achieve compliance.
