- Environics, in association with Environmental Resources Management (ERM), was commissioned to conduct an Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) audit for a float glass manufacturing facility located in 10th of Ramadan City, Egypt.
- The main objectives of the audit were to ensure that the facility complies with applicable safety regulations and has adequate controls in place to manage key risks, as well as help the facility to accelerate its progress towards EHS Excellence in its areas of focus.
- The scope of work encompassed the following:
- Document review including the relevant national, local, and site requirements.
- Field visit where information was collected through physical inspection of operations, interviews with facility personnel, and review of available records.
- Review all available information, the auditors employed representative sampling techniques to evaluate certain activities, documents or areas.
- The audit focused on the following EHS aspects: hydrogen generation unit, manual and mechanical handling of glass, contractor management, electrical safety, water/waste compliance and opportunities for recycling, fire safety, Powered Industrial Trucks and pedestrians, workplace air quality and noise limits, and general compliance with Egyptian EHS Laws and Regulations.
- The audit findings and results were provided and the best practices were also suggested by the audit team.
