ESIA, Environmental Impact & Risk Mitigation Plan (ERMP), and Support during Construction for El-Wady Merchant Grade Phosphoric Acid (MGA) Project

  • El-Wady for Phosphate Industries & Fertilizers (WAPHCO) is currently developing a new phosphoric acid production plant to be constructed in Abu Tartour, New Valley Governorate, Egypt, comprising several process facilities.
  • WAPHCO commissioned Environics to conduct an ESIA for this project, which aimed at acquiring the Egyptian Environmental Affairs Agency (EEAA) environmental approval, as well as satisfying the standards and guidelines of the International Finance Corporation (IFC), as applicable to the project.
  • The ESIA also comprised Air Dispersion Modeling, a Flash Flood Hazard Study, a Hydrodynamic Modeling Study and a Noise Modeling Study, as well as a survey of the archaeology and cultural heritage at the project site and wider area.
  • Environics also prepared an Environmental Impact and Risk Mitigation Management Plan (ERMP) to identify the environmental and social risks/impacts and their proper mitigation measures, during construction and operation phases of the project. (Completed in March 2019)
  • Moreover, Environics was commissioned to provide technical support during the construction phase of the project (Ongoing)
