El-Wady for Phosphate Industries & Fertilizers (WAPHCO) is currently developing a new phosphoric acid production plant to be constructed in Abu Tartour, New Valley Governorate, Egypt, comprising several process facilities.

WAPCHO commissioned Environics to conduct an ESIA for this project, as well as an Environmental Impact and Risk Mitigation Management Plan (ERMP), which identifies the environmental and social risks/impacts and their proper mitigation measures, during construction and operation phases of the project.

The ESIA aims at acquiring the Egyptian Environmental Affairs Agency (EEAA) environmental approval, as well as satisfying the standards and guidelines of the International Finance Corporation (IFC), as applicable to the project.

Environics scope of work also comprises Air Dispersion Modeling, a Flash Flood Hazard Study, a Hydrodynamic Modeling Study and a Noise Modeling Study, as well as a survey of the archaeology and cultural heritage at the project site and wider area.
