- Environics carried out a Hazard and Operability (HAZOP) study for the newly developed project for Solids II manufacturing to identify potential safety, environmental hazards, and major operability problems.
- The HAZOP review, that aimed at meeting plant operation requirements and complying with Good Engineering Practice, was based on international guidelines and standards; Hazard and Operability (HAZOP) Studies.
- Environics team studied the Piping & Instrumentation Diagram (P&IDs) of the solids II project and its accessories, as well as the performance of the plant, to identify and highlight causes and consequences of deviations from the design intent.
- As a structure team-based (Environics & Galaxy) review technique, the HAZOP analysis was carried out through a workshop held at Galaxy facility in Attaqa, Suez, and then the HAZOP report was developed encompassing the following:
- Introduction including: report purpose, technique of process Hazard Analysis, and report contents.
- Summary of the main findings and recommendations that highlighted the actions that need to be implemented before start up and commencement of the operation.
- Technique: types of hazards, guide-words and considered causes, consequences & safeguards, operating modes, and nodes.
- HAZOP Study Conductance (sessions and representations).
- HAZOP Findings.
- HAZOP Facilitator‟s Statement including: scope definition, objectives definition, representation, proceedings, risk review, auditability of proceedings, limitations and exclusions.
