In cooperation with Chemonics Egypt, and funded by the UNICEF, Environics was commissioned to conduct a training course for Iraqi governmental officials on the design of sanitary landfills.
The course employed a mixed lecture and practical training approach, and included site visits. Twenty-four attendees from the Iraqi Ministry of Municipalities and Public Works, and the Mayoralty of Baghdad attended the ten-day training, which covered the following topics:
– Introduction to Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA), its methodology, and EIA in Egypt.
– How to assess environmental impacts.
– Main environmental impacts of landfill projects.
– Case study: Environmental impact assessment of the solid waste landfill in Beni Sueif.
