Within the scope of Kraft Foods Egypt endeavors to abide by the corporate environmental policy and the national laws and regulations, the company commissioned Environics to prepare the environmental register for its facility at the Industrial Zone A1 of the 10th of Ramadan City, which produces food products, namely, cakes, biscuits and pastes.
Environics reviewed the facility’s existing environmental register, and the recorded recent analyses of air emissions and noise levels.
Site investigations were carried out to study the production processes and utilities, and identify the locations for the required measurements.
Based on the site investigation and feedback from the client, Environics developed a self-monitoring plan, which included sampling procedures, location of the measurements and required analyses, parameters to be measured/ analyzed as well the frequency of each measurements/analysis. The plan also provided justification for each selection based on the expected pollutants from the facility and the production pattern.
Environics then prepared the Terms of Reference (ToRs) for the laboratories to carry out the required analyses.
The Environmental Register was then developed, which comprised:
– Site location, products, inputs and relevant laws and legislation;
– Production processes and utilities;
– Air emissions, workplace pollutants, and liquid and solid wastes;
– Environmental management;
– Hazardous substances and waste register
