The assignment focuses on enhancing Egypt’s Protected Areas (PAs) and establishing a new Marine Protected Area (MPA) in the Red Sea to support eco-tourism and biodiversity conservation.

Activity 1 involves updating management plans for four key PAs (Wadi El Gimal, Nabq, Omaiyed, and Siwa) through a detailed assessment of current management practices, including a SWOT analysis, environmental and social sensitivity evaluation, and eco-tourism resource assessment. The goal is to develop sustainable management frameworks, including visitor management strategies and capacity building for effective co-management.

Activity 2 focuses on establishing a new MPA in the Red Sea, vital for conserving pristine marine ecosystems and coral reefs. This will include an ecological survey, baseline field studies, stakeholder consultations, and the development of a management plan to guide the MPA’s conservation and operational efforts, ensuring sustainable marine resource use and protection.
