Scoping study & Scoped EIA for the expansion in Geocycle Waste Recycling Plant in Suez

  • Geocycle Egypt was in the process of rehabilitating and expanding its waste recycling plant located in Suez.
  • Environics was commissioned to prepare an EIA study for project expansions, during the construction and operation phases and that included:
    • Rehabilitation of the existing sorting line.
    • Installation of a new sorting line.
    • Chopping and compressing wastes.
  • Prior to this, Environics prepared a Scoping report in order to complete and review project data and conduct an initial assessment of the potential impacts of the project.
  • Environics prepared a scoped (B) EIA study which encompassed the following: project background, framework and objectives of the study, the relevant legal and administrative framework, description of the project, inputs and outputs as well as description of the baseline environment in the project site and the surrounding area.  Moreover, the study presented the proposed project alternatives, assessed the potential environmental impacts and proposed the proper mitigation measures, and provided an outline for the project’s environmental management & self-monitoring plan.
