Environmental and Social Due Diligence for an Egyptian Financial Services Co.

  • Environics was commissioned by Ezdehar Management to carry out an Environmental and Social Due Diligence (ESDD) for an Egyptian company specialized in financial services, to assess their performance in relation to development and implementation of Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Policies and Management System, in accordance with the applicable ESG standards including:  national environmental and social (including occupational health and safety) laws and Ezdehar’s Responsible Investment Code; as well as international standards such as: IFC, The World Bank, EBRD and CDC Group.
  • The review comprised of the following activities:
    • Document review including all relevant ESG documents and information.
    • Media review to identify relevant key environmental and social issues covered by the national press.
    • Site visit and meeting with relevant individuals.
    • Assessment to evaluate the capacity of the company to comply with the aforementioned standards, identify gaps to compliance and recommend necessary actions.
    • Preparing a due diligence finding report including an Environmental and Social Action Plan (ESAP).
