ESDD for the facilities of an Egyptian food company specialized in dry mixed powder products

  • Environics was commissioned to carry out an Environmental and Social Due Diligence (ESDD) for an Egyptian food company that produces dry mixed powder products including Baking powder, vanillin, starch, salt, coco powder, custard, jelly and tea) to identify the company compliance with the following applicable Environmental, Health & safety (EHS) and food safety standards:
    • Applicable national environmental and social (including occupational health and safety) legislation (e.g. Environmental Law 4/1994, Labor Law 12/2003);
    • The World Bank Group Environmental, Health and Safety Guidelines for Food and Beverage Processing, April 2007;
    • Food Safety Management System, ISO 22000
    • Company Code of Conduct.
  • Environics conducted site visits to the company’s premises in 6th of October City  (two plants) and reviewed the relevant documents.  A DD report was prepared including: description of the sites environmental settings (Geology, Hydrology & Topography), limitations encountered during the assessment, and detailed results of the audit.
  • The project’s Environmental & Social Action Plan (ESAP), including a set of EHS and food safety actions to be implemented to achieve compliance with the reference framework, as well as conclusions and recommendations were provided.
