Tawazon Holding Company (ECARU and ENTAG) was in the process of developing its Mitigation Action Plan. The company commissioned Environics to review the social and environmental components of the plan so as to ensure the compliance of its outputs with the Performance Standards (PS) of the International Finance Corporation (IFC).
Environics carried out the following tasks to complete this assignment:
– Review the Social and Environmental Management System of Tawazon, which covered: HSE policy; mandate and organization of HSE Department; Environmental Register; reporting on accidents and their register, as well as the components of the system, which is ISO 14001 certified, to identify gaps and propose additional requirements to comply with IFC PSs.
– Develop Environmental Guidelines for Tawazon’s Waste Management Sites.
– Review Tawazon’s HR and Social Policy against the IFC PSs to identify gaps and make recommendations for compliance.
– Propose an outline for an External Grievance Mechanism and Stakeholders Engagement Plan.
