REXAM Beverage Can Egypt, one of the production facilities of REAM International, manufactures beverage cans from aluminum sheets. The company had an Integrated Documentation System that satisfied the requirements of its certifications: ISO 9001, OHSAS 18001, ISO 14001, and HACCP.
To comply with the amended Executive Regulations (2009) of the Egyptian Environmental Law (4/1994), the facility’s Environmental Register required updating. The company commissioned Environics for this assignment.
To the end of updating the environmental register, Environics conducted an environmental audit of the facility, reviewed the available documents, and prepared the Terms of Reference (TOR) for the necessary measurements and analyses to be forwarded to a specialized laboratory.
The final document, the Environmental and Hazardous Materials and Wastes Registers, comprised: Company overview and site location; products and inputs; laws and licensing; processes and utilities; air emissions, workplace pollutants, liquid wastes, and solid wastes; environmental management, and hazardous substances and wastes register.
