EIA for UCCMA Pharmaceutical & Vaccine Project – Phase 1, El Salam Industrial Area

  • The United Co. for Chemicals & Medical Preparations (UCCMA) was in the process of establishing and operating the first phase of its project to manufacture traditional pharmaceuticals & vaccines on its site at El Salam industrial area.
  • Saleh & Hegab Integrated Engineering Economical Consultancy commissioned Environics to prepare a full Environmental Impact Assessment study for the project that entails a Public Consultation meeting with the stakeholders to address the project and its environmental impacts.
  • According to the Egyptian EIA system, the study encompassed: description of the proposed project (components, processes, service units, inputs and outputs), description of the baseline environment including: Air quality and noise measurements in the project area which were performed by an accredited Lab., and analyses of project alternatives.  Also, the environmental impacts were assessed during the construction and operation phases taking into consideration the proper mitigation measures as listed in the project design, as well as outlining the environmental management and monitoring plan.
