Scatec and Fertiglobe are collaborating on a 100MW green hydrogen facility in Sokhna, Egypt, within the premises of EBIC. Environics is conducting an Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) to ensure compliance with environmental and social standards. The ESIA covers hydrogen generation, storage, and infrastructure, with a Phase II site assessment for contamination. Environics reviews regulations, conducts site visits, assesses the baseline environment, and analyzes project alternatives. They emphasize environmental and social responsibility through an Environmental and Social Management Plan (ESMP) and can conduct a Quantitative Risk Assessment (QRA) if needed. Egypt Green Hydrogen SAE’s 100MW green hydrogen project in Sokhna shifted to pressurized alkaline technology, aligning with local and international standards. Environics conducted an addendum to the Scoped ESIA to address this change and prioritized sustainable water use and occupational health and safety.
The ESIA addendum identified potential impacts stemming from the technology change and proposes mitigation measures to guarantee strict regulatory compliance. Moreover, Environics has carried out an Environmental and Social Management Plan to actively manage and monitor these impacts throughout the project’s lifecycle.
At Egypt Green Hydrogen SAE, Environics is committed to shaping a sustainable energy future toward cleaner, greener, and more environmentally responsible hydrogen production.
