ESIA Review for the Egyptian Refinery Company (ERC), Mostorod

Share:
  • The increasing demand for refined oil products in Egypt necessitated the upgrading of the Cairo Oil Refining Company (CORC) in Mostorod, which entailed plans to construct additional product processing units.  The project to construct these units was to be executed by the Egyptian Refinery Company (ERC: http://www.ercegypt.com/).
  • Environics was contracted to assist Environmental Resources Management (ERM) in reviewing the Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) prepared for this project.
  • Environics cooperated with ERM in identifying and analyzing the gaps in the ESIA according to the national laws and regulations, and the standards of the International Finance Corporation (IFC).  This entailed conducting several site visits to the facility to audit the industrial processes and the disposal methods of waste water and solid waste.  Environics reported on the environmental audits and the public consultation meeting.
