- These surveys were carried out for both Nalpetco’s Edku West Med Project (2008) and BP’s West Delta Nile Project (2010).
- The 2008 study comprised:
- Habitats: description and map of the different habitats identified in the wider area and within the site boundaries.
- Flora: main species of the wider area; vegetation cover of the project area; list of species identified within the site boundaries; identification of endemic and/or protected species as well as species social/economic importance.
- Fauna: main faunal species of the wider area; identified and expected faunal species of the project area, to include amphibians, reptiles, birds and mammals, and identification of species of concern.
- The 2010 study comprised:
- An account of the laws and regulatory framework relevant to the assignment.
- Description of the ecology of the project’s site and hinterland.
- Discussion of the biodiversity value.
