Scoping & ESIA Studies for West El Burullus (WEB) Gas Field Development Project

Environics, in association with Environmental Resources Management (ERM), was commissioned to prepare the Scoping and ESIA studies  for West El Burullus (WEB) Field Development Project, which comprises offshore wells, platforms, subsea pipeline system, as well as installation of new and modification of existing processing infrastructure to  allow tie in at the onshore processing facility.

  • The Scoping Study, which encompassed:
    • Overview of the ESIA process and methodology;
    • Description of the project and design of alternatives;
    • Overview of the relevant regulatory framework;
    • Summary of the environmental and social baseline conditions, and potential environmental impacts;
    • Documentation of the activities that have taken place and the findings that have been identified during the initial scoping phase.
  • The ESIA Study, which encompassed:
    • Description of project components and operation, including consideration of alternative design options;
    • Presentation of regulatory framework and project standards;
    • Detailed description of existing natural and social environment;
    • Impact Assessment;
    • Environmental and Social Management Plan, and
    • Stakeholder Engagement.
