ESIAs for BP’s Geophysical Survey Programmes, Western and Eastern Nile Delta

Share:
  • BP Egypt was preparing for a geophysical survey programme for the company’s concessions located within the Mediterranean Sea.
  • The surveys aimed at acquiring high resolution seismic data of the relevant lithological and structural conditions of subsurface geology to identify and evaluate potential hydrocarbon resources in the area, as well as imaging the shallow hazard in the shallow section of the seabed to determine any potential risks associated with potential drilling locations.
  • The ESIA studies required for these activities are Category B studies, which Environics conducted, recommending appropriate mitigation measures to minimize any significant potential impacts to sensitive receptors.
  • The studies provided environmental management plans that are applicable to the proposed activities.
